The National Skills Qualification Framework(NSQF) is a competency based framework that organises all qualifications according to a series of levels of knowledge, skills and attitude. Graded from one to ten, these levels are defined in terms of learning outcomes which the learner must possess regardless of whether they are obtained through formal, non-formal or informal learning.

NSQF is implemented through the National Skills Qualification Committee(NSQC) which approves NOS’s/QP’s, approves accreditation norms, prescribes guidelines to address needs of the disadvantaged sections, and aligns NSQF with international qualification frameworks.

The Scheme will now be a Centrally Sponsored Scheme(CSS) under the umbrella of Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan which provides financial assistance to the State Government and incentivises schools for implementing vocational education.

This scheme entails providing vocational education in schools, capacity building of trainers, development of curriculum with a strong MIS for monitoring and evaluation.
