Women Safety Training

Why is the Women Safety Training education required?

Self-defense, especially for women, is of prime importance due to the world of power imbalance that we live in today. Women, usually referred as the weaker sex as per the stereotype amongst the two genders are generally considered easy targets. Especially in a country like India where the cases of gender violence are on rise, while many others go unreported, self-defense for women has become imperative more than ever.

Some of the common crimes against women in India include rape, sexual assaults, molestation, kidnapping and murder. These are in addition to other vulnerable crimes such as acid attacks, groping and eve-teasing. It is in these instances when the importance of learning self-defense techniques for women is felt strongly. The criminals tend to choose their target when they find a potential victim who is unaware of their surroundings. Making these women aware, cautious, and equipped in times of need is what can immobilize/decapacitate, put the criminals in danger and in turn can potentially reduce the number of crimes against women.

We help in mentally conditioning the women into becoming strong-willed and not to succumb to victimization under any circumstances while avoiding those circumstances from happening in the first place.

5 Things that every woman should know related to personal safety which is further detailed upon in our training sessions include:

Awareness

The first and probably most important component in self-defense is awareness: To become conscious of yourself, your potential attacker and possible strategies that involve your surroundings.

Most people think of kicks to the groin and blocking punches when they hear the term "Self-defence." By becoming aware of your surroundings and by projecting a "Force presence.", many altercations which are commonplace on the street can be avoided.

Self-Defenses Training

It is also important to evaluate the goals and practical usefulness of women self-defenses program before signing up.

1.  Avoid martial arts in places unless you specifically want to train in the traditional martial arts methods and are prepared for a long-term commitment. Many women self-defense programs teach watered down martial techniques that are complicated and unrealistic under the stress of an actual attack.

2.  The self-defense program should include simulated assaults, with fully padded instructors in realistic rape and attack situations, to allow you to practice what you learned.

Your right to fight

No matter how diligently we practice awareness and avoidance techniques, we may find ourselves getting trapped in physical violence. It is essential to understand that you can and should defend yourself physically. You have both the right to do so even if the attacker is only threatening you and has not struck first. Many women worry that they might anger the attacker and get hurt worse if they defend themselves, but statistics simply show that your odds of durability are far greater if you do flight back.

Safety in cyberspace

While the internet is for education purpose and entertainment, it can also be full of danger if you are not careful. When chatting or communicating with some stranger online, always use your nickname and keep personal information confidential such as the mobile number and address. Keep yourself updated on security issues, viruses, frauds, etc. by periodically referring to internet safety page.

Home invasions

The main way to prevent a home invasion is simply never to open your door unless you either are certain you know who is on the other side of the door or can verify that they are confidant or someone who has a legitimate reason for there. If a thief breaks in while you are at home, you should have a safe room in which you can hide and run. Such a room should be kept equipped with a strong door, deadbolt lock, phone, and a can of pepper spray or fire extinguisher, sten gun or taser gun.
